Purity, Origin & Natural Qualities
A Bead Mentioned at the Peak of Scripture
In classical
Rudraksha literature, descriptions of mukhi types begin at one and end at
fourteen. The 14 Mukhi Rudraksha occupies this final position not by
coincidence but by design: every major source - the Shiva Purana tradition,
Rudraksha Mahatmya, and texts compiled in Rudraksha Bhasma Evam Tripundra
Vigyan - reserves its highest language for this bead.
This listing
presents a natural 14 Mukhi Rudraksha from Nepal. It weighs 1.519 grams and
measures 17.48 x 15.70 x 12.54 mm. IGL Report No. 153930RD, issued by IGL
Rudraksha Testing and Research Laboratory, New Delhi, confirms fourteen natural
internal compartments on X-ray examination and states that the results confirm
natural origin. No artificial faces were found.
The Sanskrit Testimony
Two closely
related Sanskrit passages document the fourteen-faced Rudraksha in the
classical tradition. The first, from the Shiva Purana lineage:
चतुर्दशास्यो
रुद्राक्षो यदि लभ्येत पुत्रक,
धारयेत्सततं
मूध्नि तस्य पिण्डः शिवस्य तु।
Meaning: "If
the fourteen-faced Rudraksha is obtained, O son, wear it continuously on the
head - the body of that person is equal to the body of Shiva himself."
The second,
preserved in Rudraksha Bhasma Evam Tripundra Vigyan, adds the dimension of
sin-removal:
चतुर्दशमुखो
योहि रुद्राक्षः परमशिवः।
धारयेन्मूर्ध्नि
तं सक्त्या सततः एष प्रणश्यति।।
Meaning:
"The fourteen-faced Rudraksha is Param Shiva himself. One who wears it on
the head with devotion - all sins are destroyed for that person always."
(Source: Rudraksha Bhasma Evam Tripundra Vigyan)
The Rudraksha
Mahatmya states that this bead emerged from Rudra's eye, carries infinite
virtues, and makes its wearer like Shiva himself in spiritual essence.
Traditionally Believed Benefits
Traditional
sources and practitioner accounts describe the following associations for the
14 Mukhi Rudraksha: removal of accumulated sin, elevation of spiritual status,
deepening of devotion and compassion, freedom from mental afflictions, growth
in self-knowledge, and all-round happiness. These are traditional religious
beliefs based on classical texts and should be understood as such, not as
guaranteed outcomes.
How to Wear
Per traditional
prescription: string on red thread, bathe on a Monday, touch to a Shivalinga
chanting "Om Namah Shivaya," and wear at the heart or head. Avoid
harsh chemicals, prolonged soaking, and rough handling.
