Lord
Shiva is known as the "Maha-Deva." According to the scriptures, by
worshipping Lord Shiva, all the wishes will be fulfilled soon.
As per the Shiva Purana, poverty, illness, enemy
harassment, and the four types of sins all bother one only if one does not
worship Shiva. When Shiva is worshipped, all misfortunes are absorbed into the
Lord; all happiness is secured, and salvation is attained. Those who are
devotedly attached to Shiva, those whose minds are turned towards Shiva, and
those who constantly remember Shiva, never become victims of misery. Those who
desire magnificent structures, beautiful ornaments, wealth to satiation, sons
and grandsons, good health, a splendid body, extraordinary status, heavenly happiness,
and final salvation, or profound devotion to the great lord, shall duly worship
Shiva on the basis of their merit accumulated.
The best way to please Shiva is to do Rudrabhishek.
The literal meaning of the word Abhishek is "to
bathe" or "to make." Rudrabhishek means the consecration of Lord
Rudra, that is, the anointing of the Shivlinga with the mantras of Rudra.
According to astrology, the Rudrabhishek mantra is
considered the most surefire way to please Lord Shiva. That is, by this, the
blessings of Lord Shiva are obtained soon.
According
to the Ramayana, Lord Rama performed Rudrabhishek Puja at Rameshwaram to
demonstrate his devotion and earn the blessings of Lord Shiva before crossing
the ocean to retrieve Sita and defeat Ravana in Lanka.
Invocation of significant deities, Rudrabhishek and
Eka-Rudri path, and aarti are all part of the ritual.
